I work in the dental field. Please, don't change out your amalgum (silver) fillings until you start having a breakdown of the filling. And try to only have 1 or 2 fillings changed out at a time. Here is the reason. The mercury being released by the fillings in their present state is minimal compared to the mercury that is released when the filling is removed from your tooth. Many older, large fillings will have to be turned into crowns anyway which can run an average of $700 each! Try asking your dentist to change one to a composite (white-but plastic) filling or a new crown (gold or porcelain-gold will last longer) as you can afford to, one at a time. And ask him to use a rubber dam which will protect you more during the amalgum removal. Next: don't eat too much tuna. Finally: JuvaCleanse which is made of helichrysum, ledum and celery seed oils appear to be the studied regimen for mercury reduction in the essential oil world!
